Top-down shooter inspired by the likes of Hotline Miami and Spelunky.

Game Concept:
2D Top-down shooter with a cowboy theme.
High difficulty.
Strategic gameplay.

You have infinite ammo, but your gun only holds 6 rounds at a time.
It takes time to reload so choose your fights carefully.
One shot kills, so don’t get hit, and don’t miss.

I worked as part of a team of 4, where my primary job was the Camera and the semi-random level generation. I was also the lead artist.

Level Generation:
The level generation is loosely based on spelunky, with specifik types of rooms being randomly paired together.
We needed to have 15 different types of rooms as seen below.

Each of the 15 room types have 4 different layouts, so even when the same room type shows up multiple times it doesn’t get too repetetive.

The level generator first generates a path through the map from start to finish, with a set amount of rooms predetermined. Then it adds extra rooms besides the allready existing ones, also with a predetermined amount.

Lastly it figures out which room types are needed, based on room placement, and fills them in.
